Quotes of the Week: ‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘Community,’ ‘Grimm,’ & More

Troy on 'Community,' Ron Swanson on 'Parks & Rec,' and The (Reformed) Big Bad Wolf on NBC's 'Grimm'

It was a spooky week of Halloween-themed episodes, not to mention a few reimagined fairy tales. Here are some highlights from this week:

Once Upon A Time 1×01 “Once Upon A Time”

“Frozen in time stuck in Storybrooke, Maine. That’s what you’re going with?” -Emma

The Walking Dead 2×02 “Bloodletting”

“It’s a waste of time, all this hopin’ and prayin’. Cause we’re gonna locate that little girl, and she’s gonna be just fine. Am I the only one Zen around here? Good Lord.” -Daryl

Gossip Girl 5×05 “The Fasting and the Furious”

“If only you could be me for a day and I could be you, and we’d both get what we want. But since we’re not in a Jason Bateman movie, we have to think of another plan.” -Chuck

Suburgatory 1×05 “Halloween”

“We’re performing an exorcism tonight. But we don’t have a lot of time. Hoarders comes on in an hour.” -Lisa

Community 3×05 “Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps”

“You ruined a Britta party. That’s like letting poop spoil.” -Troy

Ron: “I know more than you.”

The Office 8×05 “Spooked”

“How do I stay good? Through a strict regimen of diet, drugs, and Pilates.” -The Big Bad Wolf

Top 5 Tuesday: Favorite Halloween Episodes

Left to right: Dwight on 'The Office,' Marshall and Lily on 'How I Met Your Mother,' and Dean Pelton on 'Community'

Happy Top 5 Tuesday, everyone! Halloween is almost here, which means this week of television should be full of comical costumes, spooky hijinks, and bite size candy. Let’s look back on our top 5 favorite Halloween-themed episodes…

1.) “Halloween” (Buffy) – What could be funnier (or scarier) than seeing Buffy as a corseted damsel, Xander as an armed soldier, Willow as a scantily clad ghost, and Cordelia as…Cordelia? No one does Halloween better than Joss Whedon. This episode will forever be one of my favorite Halloween-themed TV episodes. (Honorable mention: the season four Halloween episode “Fear Itself.”)

2.) “Epidemiology” (Community) – The zombie episode of Community was pure brilliance, especially with its hilarious juxtaposition of zombies and the music of ABBA. It was an oddly perfect combo.

3.) “The Slutty Pumpkin” (How I Met Your Mother) – This is probably one of the greatest episodes in HIMYM history. It featured Marshall’s defense of the Ewoks (“The rebellion would have failed without the Ewoks”), a number of amusing costumes from Barney (each of which came with its own terrible pickup line), and Marshall as a gay pirate–I mean, Captain Jack Sparrow.

4.) “Halloween” (The Office) - Dwight came to work dressed as a Sith Lord. The jury’s still out on whether it was a costume, or if that’s his true form.

5.) “And Then There Was Shawn” (Boy Meets World)BMW‘s horror movie spoof episode was hilarious, but also terrifying. The gang was locked in the high school and chased by a mysterious killer, falling into classic horror movie traps. In the end, it turned out to be Shawn’s nightmare, but that didn’t make it any less frightening.
