Fringe 2×08 “August”: Reactions from a First Time Viewer
There is MORE THAN ONE OBSERVER!!!!! August is my hero. He broke the Observer code and developed feelings. Don’t worry buddy, you will not be forgotten. THIS EPISODE WAS SOOOOOO GOOD! Bravo writers for writing a character that shed some light on the mysterious Observers AND had the viewers rooting for him in less than ONE HOUR! On a separate note, the blatant product placement in this episode gave me an idea. Fox Network should sell the Observers’ bald heads as ad space and use that money to fund more episodes. Lots of potential there, Fox. Sit on it.
- The Observer is taking notes in his language. I want to learn, is there an Observer Rosetta Stone cd? I’ve never seen this Observer before!

- He just left his book!! He is kidnapping the girl?
Oh no, he just used his special gun, and now he is being shot at.
Wait, did the bullet get him? - It’s Ella!!!!!

I love Olivia and Ella together. YAY, Olivia and I are both scared of roller coasters. We are so alike!

- Poor lil Ella. She can’t hangout with her awesome aunt Liv.

- Yes, Olivia, the Observer is different. There is more than one. WHAT THE WHAT?!
He just caught the bullet like Neo in the Matrix.

- Is Walter looking at the code or the blood in the Observer’s notebook?

- Brandon is showing Peter and Olivia historical images with an Observer in each one. The Boston Massacre. Marie Antoinette’s execution. Saravejo. Damnit, Fringe. Now, I’m gonna look for Observers in everything.

- Brandon is explaining to Peter and Olivia that the Observers observe time. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Excuse me! Did you have to let that liquid fall on Olivia’s shoes? Really, again? Olivia, kick his butt.
- The Observers show up at important moments and Mr. Spills-on-Olivia has charted “twenty-six sightings in the past three months alone.” Uh oh. What is gonna happen?

- More Observers!! It’s like an Observer convention.
August abducted a girl who was supposed to be on a flight that will crash.
He created an irregularity. Who is Donald? Wait a sec…he has hair. Oh no. He is going to kill the girl to fix the irregularity.
- Whoa, Peter and Olivia found a picture of Christine’s parents who were killed in the 1989 earthquake and an Observer is in the background!

- Nice going girl. You freed yourself, but I think you’ll be fine. August seems to have good intentions. Aw, August is concerned she hurt herself.

August: “It will be just a minute now” Oh dang. The plane is gonna crash soon. - TIME FOR THE FORD COMMERCIAL SEGMENT.

- I love Aunt Olivia. “I’m just calling to check in and say hi to my niece.”

- Peter: “You do that thing with your mouth when you’re upset.”

Peter is learning Olivia’s mannerisms. That’s good. I encourage it.
Continue to watch her intently, Peter.

- Aww, Olivia is telling Peter one of her favorite memories with her mother. ADORABLE STORY!
- Flight 821 has crashed. August to Christine: “I saved you.” He is her protector.

- The red stain in the notebook is not blood. It’s chili pepper juice, and Walter has had the King Cobra chili before. Walter: “I once ate one. The flatulence was horrible. Very embarassing.”

- August is meeting with the other Observers! August: “She is unique. [...] We have interfered before.” September: “Only to correct a mistake of our own making. She has no future.” August: “Then why do I see it?” EEEEEE! He sees her future. HE IS IN LOVE WITH HER! No, the Observers still want to kill her.

- Walter just made Astrid try his new milkshake.
Ewww. French vanilla ice cream and cough syrup should not be mixed. Poor Astrid. - Creeper! August has pictures of Christine from various ages.

- Walter is with August! He deciphered the message. He made a deal with the Observers years ago to not take Peter?!?!
Dang!!!!

- Ruh roh! Peter and Olivia are going to August’s apartment and they are going to encounter Donald! You go Peter.

Kick that door open. Very sexy.

- Ah! Donald is pointing his gun at Peter.
Man, he’s learned so much from his future wifey.
He turned the tables on Donald. OH NO, he’s hurt.

- Walter: “May I ask what is so important about Miss Hollis?” August: “I cannot explain the reason. I merely see it. I have never experienced such…certainty. But the others, they say she is of no consequence.”

- Walter: “You must make her important. And of course whatever you do, you must be prepared to face the consequences.”

- August is back at the motel with Christine. “Do you trust me?”

- The Observer just shot Donald with his blaster. AHHHH! Donald shot August!!!

August gave Peter his blaster. - GAH! TURN AROUND OLIVIA! Whew.
Peter came to the rescue.

- August is gone!

- September saved August! August: “I think it’s what they call feelings. I think I love her.” OH EM GEE! THIS IS A PHENOMENAL SCENE! I AWARD THEE A FRIMMY!!
- August: “Will she be safe now?” September: “Yes. You made her important. She is responsible for the death of one of us.” THIS IS FRINGETASTIC!!!

- Whoa. Walter just gave Christine a bear from her childhood which August had all this time!!
- WHAT THE WHAT?! Walter just said Peter will get his answers. I’m worried!!
- Olivia asked for the rest of the day off!!!

Time for Ella and Olivia ADORABLENESS!!
HAHA Olivia’s frightened face on the roller coaster is priceless. AWWWWWW Ella just put her little hand on Olivia to reassure her. CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!! - THE OBSERVERS ARE WATCHING THEM!!!!

- December: “Look how happy she is. It’s a shame things are about to get so hard for her.” WHAAAAAAAAAT??!!! They just had to ruin the Kodak moment. ARGH!! This can’t be!! Really, Observers, Really?!?!

Special thanks to Fringe Files, “dunhamgetinmybed,” and “hellyeahfringe” for providing the screencaps and gifs.

Another good one Mary! Yes, Aunt Liv would be the best Aunt ever!!! Also I’m not going to say anything more than just enjoy the Olivia and Ella moments while you can! :p
P.S. Maybe if you had proposed that brilliant idea about the advertising to FOX sooner Fringe would not be ending this season!!!LOL!!
