Relive all of Meryl Streep’s Oscar Nominations and Wins
No other actor has been nominated as many times as Meryl Streep (16 Oscar nominations, 2 wins).
Meryl Monday: The Iron Lady
And the nominees for Best Actress are…
Meryl Streep. Meryl Streep. Meryl Streep. And Meryl Streep.
Let’s face it. When you think of Meryl, you think of the Oscars. The two are synonymous, however, many people forget that Meryl has only won two times. She holds a record 16 nominations but the last time she won was in 1982 for Sophie’s Choice. That was 29 years ago! Like any actor, Meryl has done her share of “mediocre” roles but for the past few years she has been delivering remarkable performances (Doubt, Julie & Julia, The Devil Wears Prada). And I think it is time she receives the golden statute. Is there any reason she should not win this year? The UK trailer alone for her new film, The Iron Lady, is proof that this is her year. She plays a historical figure, physically changes her appearance, and performs with an accent. The role fits the criteria for the Oscar, however, there are always surprises at the star studded event. All I know is that I will be at home watching the Oscars rooting for Meryl.
Do you think Meryl Streep will take home the Oscar this year?
On a different note, the scene in which Meryl glides in the hallway like a vampire reminds me of Gary Oldman in Dracula. Do you see the resemblance?
The Iron Lady premieres in the United States on January 13, 2012.

Film Friday: Kramer vs. Kramer
Dustin Hoffman + Meryl Streep = Great film!

The film was nominated for five Academy Awards in 1979: Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress (Meryl Streep’s first win!).
Film Friday: Winter’s Bone
Submitted by @purehero
Winter’s Bone is an adaptation of Daniel Woodrell’s 2006 novel of the same name. It stars Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Ree Dolly, a 17 year old girl searching for her drug-dealing father as she takes care of her mother and siblings. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards in 2011: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
@purehero says the film is “excellent” and has a “great performance by Jennifer Lawrence in the starring role, very worthy of the Oscar nomination.”
