Romantic comedy month continues with Say Anything, a 1989 film starring John Cusack.
Cusack plays Lloyd Dobler, an average student in love with the valedictorian Diane Court (Ione Skye). Add a disapproving father and a scholarship to study across the pond to the mixture and you have an unforgettable love story. Don’t forget the iconic boom box scene with Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” playing in the background.
10 Things I Hate About You is a witty romantic comedy based on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew starring Julia Stiles (Save the Last Dance), Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight, A Night’s Tale), Larisa Oleynik (“The Secret World of Alex Mack”), and the adorable Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The film was released in 1999 and still considered widely popular, inspiring a short-lived television series in 2009.
Happy February (also known as romantic comedy film month)
Failure to Launch is a lighthearted film starring shirtless Matthew McConaughey as a 35 year old adult who still lives with his parents and Sarah Jessica Parker, the woman who is hired to help him become an independent adult. The film also features well known actors such as Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, and Kathy Bates. Look for former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw playing McConaughey’s father.
