‘Survivor: One World’ Premiere: Boys Rule, Girls Drool

Troyzan, Matt (AKA Fake Brad Womack), & Jay carry large sticks around in the premiere of 'Survivor: One World'
Survivor is back! Life is good, you guys. Except for the fact that everyone on this season seems to be either dumb, annoying, or some combination of the two. But the season is young, and there’s still a chance we could unlock some hidden potential within one or more of these idiots. The most intriguing part of this season is, of course, the rather hostile living situation, wherein the tribes (divided into men versus women) share a beach. You know what they’re not sharing? Axes, chickens, and fire. I kind of hate when Survivor divides the tribes into men and women, because it makes everyone act like children. If I wanted to watch children compete against each other and try to survive in the wild, I would’ve watched that show Kid Nation when it aired back in 2007.
You can read my breakdown of the schoolyard gender dynamics of the premiere of Survivor: One World over at HuffPost TV. What did you think of the premiere, fellow Survivor fans? Did anyone stand out as an early favorite? Did the guys make the right call on the immunity challenge? Do they even try to hide the immunity idol anymore? ‘FRINGE’ Photo Recap: “Welcome to Westfield”
You know how you can tell that this was a fantastic episode of Fringe? Because Lincoln Lee wasn’t in it at all, and it didn’t even occur to me until the very end of the episode. “Welcome to Westfield” was like a throwback to classic Fringe, with the core three characters together on a potentially deadly adventure, which started out as a quest for a dessert item. Between Walter’s renewed passion for food, and Olivia’s flashes of memories from what seems to be the original timeline, it was almost like the real team was back together! Let’s go over some of the finer points of this week’s episode, in which the opening scene alone was enough to make it one of my favorite episodes of the season…
‘FRINGE’ Photo Recap: “Making Angels”
Paging Jasika Nicole to the Emmy desk. I thought I couldn’t possibly be more disgruntled about the lack of Emmy love for this show, but after seeing Jasika Nicole’s performances as both Astrids in this week’s episode, I’m already preparing my rage-filled diatribe for when she is inevitably overlooked come Emmy season, just as her costars have been for the past three seasons. She was so great in this episode that I didn’t even mind that Lincoln Lee was hardly in it at all. Let’s break it down through another highly analytical photo recap.
‘FRINGE’ Photo Recap: “Forced Perspective”

Olivia & Lincoln look for clues in the home of the man from a girl's vision of an impending catastrophe.
This was the first episode of Fringe in 2012 to focus only on the primary universe, which is to say, it was significantly lower on the “fun” scale than the previous two eps. But a lackluster episode of Fringe is still more exciting than a season finale of NCIS, so I’m not complaining. (As long as there is at least one Lincoln Lee in every episode, I consider it a fantastic hour of TV.) “Forced Perspective” centered around a girl who has visions of people’s deaths. It featured some disturbing developments on the Nina-is-evil front, and an unintentionally hilarious scene in which Lincoln crouched in a corner of the suspect’s apartment while sorting through papers on the floor. Let’s get the ball rolling on the photo breakdown of this week’s episode.
‘Glee’: Tell Me More, Tell Me More
Oh Glee… I wish I knew how to quit you. But it’s hard to stay mad at you when you come back from a hiatus with a Grease number. How did you know that “Summer Nights” is one of my all-time favorites? Seeing Chord Overstreet rocking that leather jacket, dancing on the bleachers with his T-Birds…I was in love. Also, how perfect was Santana as Rizzo? But enough about Grease.
‘Fringe’ Photo Recap: “Back to Where You’ve Never Been”
Fringe is back from hiatus! And this week’s episode “Back to Where You’ve Never Been” was full of action, excitement, and homoerotic undertones. In an attempt to break down the rich complexities of Fringe, I’ve boiled it down into a photo recap. I was inspired by the absolutely hilarious Vampire Diaries photo recaps by Price Peterson at TV.com. And thanks to FringeFiles.com for providing all the screen caps. Enjoy!
