“He’s a ghost and he writes to us. Ghostwriter.”

If you grew up in the 90s then you may remember hearing this theme song on television:

Before Veronica Mars, there was Ghostwriter -a show about teens solving mysteries with the help of an unknown ghost (think more “lost spirit” and less “Casper”). And we can’t forget Samuel L. Jackson guest starring on the show as Jamal’s father, Reggie. Anyone fancy seeing Mace Windu on a PBS show?

Although Ghostwriter lacks the dramatic writing of Battlestar Galactica and witty dialogue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it still holds a special place in my heart. Ghostwriter was one of the first shows that transformed me into a TV enthusiast. I became more than a weekly viewer…I became a TV nerd. Yes, I created my own Ghostwriter team with my cousins. I bought a pen on a lanyard and I would occasionally write “RALLY” in my notebook hoping Ghostwriter would read it.  The show made me want to live in the world of my favorite TV characters and I love it for that reason. Has a TV show, film, or book ever had this kind of impact on you?
