2011-2012 TV Season Awards: The Best, the Worst, & the “Huh?”

Well, friends, another season of television has come and (almost) gone. So now that most of the regular season shows have ended for the summer, it’s time to look back and reflect on the best and worst moments of this TV season. We laughed, we cried, we watched Steven Tyler make inappropriate comments to teenage girls. All in all, it was a worthwhile season, though not one of the strongest we’ve seen in recent years by any means. Here are some of the highlights from this season…

Overlooked Drama You Should Really Be Watching: Fringe (always)

Most Consistently Great Hour of TV: It’s a tie—Fringe and The Good Wife

Most Blood & Guts: The Walking Dead

Best Reality Show Challenge: The Snow White & the Hunstman-inspired cooking challenge on Top Chef: Texas

Worst Reality Show Challenge: Survivor: South Pacific‘s painful-to-watch Jack and Jill-themed challenge, in which the castaways were forced to paint themselves in drag and navigate an obstacle course while blindfolded, all for the “reward” of a sneak peek of Adam Sandler’s cinematic masterpiece Jack and Jill

Best TV Interview: Zac Efron on Australia’s Hot30 Countdown (…in which he demonstrates how to unhook a woman’s bra with one hand)

“Did That Just Happen?!” Moment of the Year: Elena waking up as a vampire on The Vampire Diaries

What do you say, pop culture fans? What were your favorite moments from this season of TV? Your least favorite? To be fair, this list definitely skews towards shows that we actually watch. Tell us what you thought of this season! Leave a comment, or tweet us @PopCultureNexus! And remember: at least we have each other to help us get through the long summer without our favorite shows. And we also have True Blood.

  1. Hey Louise…You forgot best Awww Moment Of The Year….which of coarse would be…”Peter I’m Pregnant”! (Cue the imaginary confetti going off in our heads) LOL!!!

  2. Hey Louise….I thought of one more Awww Moment Of The Year to tie with the last one….Fauxliva resting her head on Walter’s shoulder as he was cooking breakfast for them!!! (Ok I’m done now, I promise)

  3. It’s true. People seriously don’t know what they’re missing out on if they don’t watch Fringe.

  4. Greatest TV Series in the last 10 years–Fringe. Seriously. People who don’t watch this need to. . .just. . .WATCH IT!

  5. The only one I have to disagree with is the Best Use of a Florence + The Machine Song, which has to go to the use of Seven Devils in the season finale of Revenge!
