Fringe 2×14 “Jacksonville”: Reactions from a First Time Viewer

My heart is bursting with Polivia goodness. Another BRILLIANT episode by the writers, cast, and crew! I LOVE episodes that explore a character’s past and “Jacksonville” did just that. It took us to the daycare facility where Walter performed his cortexiphan trials, and set Olivia and the course she is on.

This perfectly captures my feelings about Fringe

  • Power outage? Oh, it’s a micro-quake. Yikes, the ceiling just fell on ‘real coffee’ guy. surprise His name is Ted and he is an architect?! laughing The Fringe writers like to have fun referencing other shows. Oh snap! The dude has multiple limbs. surprise surprise surprise
  • Olivia is calling Peter at 2 AM. Peter: You’ve got to be kidding me.” Olivia: “Congratulations, Mister Bishop. You’ve just won an all-expense-paid trip to New York City.” Peter: I thought I told your people to take me off your contestant list.” Olivia: “Not according to our records. It says here that you’re a fan of fine dining and excitement.” Peter: “Do you have a supervisor? Anybody there I could complain to? This has to stop.” Olivia: “Did I mention there’s excitement?” love strucklove struckbig hugwinking

  • PETER AND OLIVIA ARE ADORABLE!!!! THEY NEED TO BE A COUPLE NOW!! I don’t want to wait anymore!

  • Peter: “Walter, wake up. We just won an all-expense-paid trip to New York City.” Walter: “That’s fantastic. I’ve never won anything before.” rolling on the floorrolling on the floorrolling on the floorrolling on the floor
  • The building’s number is “2 28 0” 28?!?! “28” was an important number in “Grey Matters.” I wonder if there is some connection there.  thinking
  • This was a quantam tectonic event? OH SNAP!! Ted doesn’t have a wife.  OH SNAP!!! The guy is from another universe?! surprisesurprisesurprise HE’S FROM THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!
  • A double decker car! laughing So, the other side is more advanced.
  • Olivia can see the glimmer!!! She can see stuff from the other side because of the cortexiphan. But there were consequences when she saw stuff from the other side as a child. YIKES!! OH SNAP! Olivia is gonna let Walter experiment on her again. They need to go to Jacksonville! worried SUPER NERVOUS
  • The lock combination to the daycare is 5 – 20- 10.  Walter can’t remember the significance of the number. Eeeeee. This is important! (The season 2 finale aired on May 20, 2010. Is that the connection?) Olivia looks pissed being there. sad Her name is on the wall. This must be hard for her. cryingcrying

  • Walter wears glasses? Why hasn’t he worn them before?

  • Awwww, Olivia and Peter on the swings. big hug

  • Olivia is hooked up to lots of wires. worried Walter: “How we feel affects the way we see the world.” Nice line! They’re gonna inject her with cortexiphan. worriedworried Olivia: “I am singing in the rain.” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Peter is SO CONCERNED.

  • Olivia is in a dark forest. I don’t like this. Is that little Olive?? Little Olivia: “Please I don’t want to do this anymore.” She’s a cutie patootie. Big Olivia is wearing black gloves. Cool. WHAT?!?! Olivia to little girl: “What’s your name?” WTF?!?! HOW DOES OLIVIA NOT REMEMBER WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE AS A KID?!?!?!?! I don't knowWHAT JUST HAPPENED?! Little Olive turned evil.

  • Olivia to Walter : “What the hell is wrong with you? You did this to little children.” Ouch! cryingcrying
  • Olivia is trying to find the 16 items, but she can’t. “Should we find some more kids to scare?” OUCH! Wow, Olivia is super mad.
  • It’s Ms. Terminator is calling Broyles. Aww, Olivia is sleeping in one of the little kiddie beds. sadsadsad Great use of setting to make Olivia child-like and vulnerable.
  • Broyels to Olivia: “It started.” Eeeeeeeeeeee. worried
  • Walter is watching a video of Olivia as a little child. Girl has some extraordinary abilities. She started a fire with her mind. surprise Walter: ”We were trying to help you, make you more than you were.” Olivia: “Is that what you were doing? Or were you searching for questions you shouldn’t have been asking in the first place?” Walter: “I was a different man then.” Olivia: “I was a defenseless child.” sadsad MY HEART HAS SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PIECES!

  • Olivia channeled her fear into anger. She has to find her way back to that scared little girl. sadsadsadsad THIS IS MAKING ME REALLY NERVOUS!!!!

  • Olivia found the room from the video!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is trying to find that fear again. Olivia: “I’m not afraid of anything anymore.” SUCH A GOOD EPISODE!! Bravo writers! Bravo!! applauseapplause
  • HAHA Brandon made a Raiders of the Lost Ark reference. thumbs up LOVE IT! I’m liking this Massive Dynamic nerd.
  • Walter: “I think we can rule out the Empire State building.”  laughing
  • UH OH! Walter: “It’s time.” d'oh Olivia is trying to find a solution. Broyles: “There are times when the only choices you have left are the bad ones.” sad SO MANY GREAT LINES!!
  • Olivia to Peter: “It’s too late. I failed. I failed and I’m supposed to be the one who can stop things like this.” cryingcrying NO OLIVIA!! Don’t say that!!! cryingcryingcryingcrying
  • Peter: “I never met anyone who can do the things that you do.” HAND ON CHEEK!!!!! Olivia is gonna cry. I am ready to burst into tears!!! Olivia: “Peter, I’m scared.” crying SHE DID IT!! DAMN! Had to ruin the almost-kiss!!!!

  • Olivia sees the building glimmer!! GO OLIVIA GO!! Broyles: “You need to evacuate everyone from the building immediately.” Olivia!!! She is being swept away. surprise Oh man. The building is COMPLETELY gone! Olivia to employee: “I guess it’s safe you have the rest of the night off work.” happy
  • “Unscheduled controlled demolition” Yeah right. LOL Broyles: “You saved a lot of people.” Olivia: “We all did.” Take the credit Olivia!
  • Peter is going out for drinks with Olivia. LOVE IT!!! OH EM GEE Walter’s little jig! I love him! big hughee heehee hee

  • Yeah Olivia, make yourself all pretty for Peter!!!  It totally is a date!!!! applauseapplause
  • She has the best loving look at Peter. OH MY GOSH!!!! SHE SEES PETER GLOWING!!!!!!!!!  She is gonna cry. OLIVIA’S REACTION! GAH!!!!!!! She knows!

  • Walter to Olivia: “Please don’t tell him.”

  1. Here begins the Fringe Express. Enjoy!

  2. It was here that Fringe went from being *just* a great show to one of the best shows ever.

  3. Have to give kudos to Anna Torv for “that look” at the end of the episode when Olivia saw Peter glowing. One of the best bits of acting I have ever seen. She totally killed it with that look.

  4. Olivia seeing Peter’s glimmer is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in television. 😦

  5. Gonna be balling your eyes out come thursday….”Peter” is one of the best episodes of TV ever.

  6. I agree, Jacksonville set Fringe on fire!! Jacksonville is always on my phone as well as another ep but telling you would be spoilery. Olivia seeing Peter glimmer is as jaw dropping as the image of the twin towers at the end of season one.

Love love love the Shirley gif. Too much to abbreviate, Laughed out Loud!! I’m so excited for you. To be seeing it for the first time. I’ve watched it from the beginning and had to endure commercials & hiatuses & summers. When I sat my roommate down and made her watch from the beginning. She zoomed from episode to episode & is much as a freak as I am now. 🙂

  7. One of my favorites and a heartbreaker. Buckle up, cause it’s going to be a bumpy and fantastic ride!

  9. OMG!! I loooooove your reactions!! LOL

  10. Hmmm I’m not sure if I believe that the writer is a newbie. The term ‘almost kiss’ for that scene has been around for years, bit too much of a coincidence that the writer uses that *exact* term for it.
