Louise’s Best of 2013

Screen shot 2013-12-28 at 4.27.38 PM

It’s been quite a year. Kimye had a baby, Miley twerked her way into pop culture history, and Sandra Bullock defied Gravity in the greatest space drama of recent history. Here’s my list of the best of 2013—including Chris Messina’s dance moves, Finnick Odair, and Robin Williams’ return to television. Keep in mind that this list consists of my personal favorites of the year. Cards on the table, I still haven’t seen Breaking Bad, so you won’t find it on this list. What you will find is a whole lot of fabulousness that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already. Here we go!

Best New TV Drama (Historical): Reign

Best New TV Drama (Futuristic): Almost Human

Best New TV Comedy: The Crazy Ones

Best Returning TV Drama: The Good Wife

Best Returning TV Comedy: The Mindy Project (because this)

Best TV Finale: Fringe (also best acting, best writing, best characters, best all-around everything…)

Best Film (Drama): Gravity

Best Film (Comedy): Don Jon

Best Film (Adapted from a Book): The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (should be considered for a “Best Picture” Oscar for this scene alone)

Best Film (Superhero): Thor: The Dark World

Best Book (Fiction): The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

Best Book (Non-Fiction): Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosch

Best Book (Young Adult): Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

Best Conclusion to a Trilogy: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Best Album: “Native” by OneRepublic

Best Face: Colton Haynes

Best Everything: Tom Hiddleston

It may not have been a banner year in entertainment, but there were certainly some bright lights in an otherwise dim sea of mediocre remakes and The Big Bang Theory. Thank God for Beyoncé and the Hemsworth brothers. What were your highlights of 2013? Leave your “best of” in the comments section! Happy New Year!
